 <\/em>Abstract<\/b><\/strong>: This article presents<\/em> <\/em>a<\/em> <\/em>comprehensive analysis of the evolution and impact of Environmental, Social, and<\/em> <\/em>Governance<\/em> <\/em>(ESG)<\/em> <\/em>principles on banking performance<\/em> <\/em>over a<\/em> <\/em>twelve-year period, from<\/em> <\/em>2012<\/em> <\/em>-2024.<\/em> <\/em>Through a detailed bibliometric and big data analytics examination of the ESG Bank Performance (EBP) corpus within SCOPUS, we uncover the thematic and geographical distribution of research contributions that underline the sector’s dynamic journey towards sustainability. Our findings illustrate a significant shift in the academic focus, from foundational explorations of ESG integration strategies and risk management to addressing the broader complexities<\/em> <\/em>of<\/em> <\/em>global<\/em> <\/em>sustainability<\/em> <\/em>challenges,<\/em> <\/em>technological<\/em> <\/em>advancements,<\/em> <\/em>and<\/em> <\/em>regulatory<\/em> <\/em>changes.<\/em> <\/em>The<\/em> <\/em>period has<\/em> <\/em>seen<\/em> <\/em>a<\/em> <\/em>maturation<\/em> <\/em>of<\/em> <\/em>ESG<\/em> <\/em>from<\/em> <\/em>a<\/em> <\/em>niche<\/em> <\/em>interest<\/em> <\/em>to<\/em> <\/em>a<\/em> <\/em>strategic<\/em> <\/em>imperative<\/em> <\/em>within<\/em> <\/em>the<\/em> <\/em>banking<\/em> <\/em>sector,<\/em> <\/em>underscored by<\/em> <\/em>increasing<\/em> <\/em>scholarly<\/em> <\/em>output<\/em> <\/em>and<\/em> <\/em>citation<\/em> <\/em>engagement globally, particularly<\/em> <\/em>from<\/em> <\/em>countries<\/em> <\/em>like<\/em> <\/em>Italy, the<\/em> <\/em>Russian Federation, China, and India. Keyword co-occurrence analysis reveals a rich thematic landscape, emphasizing the integration of ESG into operational and financial strategies, the role of digital innovation, and the banking sector’s<\/em> <\/em>response<\/em> <\/em>to<\/em> <\/em>climate finance<\/em> <\/em>and<\/em> <\/em>social<\/em> <\/em>governance issues.<\/em> <\/em>Our<\/em> <\/em>review<\/em> <\/em>provides insights into<\/em> <\/em>the<\/em> <\/em>evolving discourse on ESG impact, offering forward-looking recommendations for research and practice. We argue that ESG considerations have become integral to the banking industry’s evolution, necessitating innovative, interdisciplinary approaches<\/em> <\/em>to<\/em> <\/em>further our<\/em> <\/em>understanding<\/em> <\/em>of<\/em> <\/em>sustainable<\/em> <\/em>banking<\/em> <\/em>practices.<\/em> <\/em>This study<\/em> <\/em>contributes to<\/em> <\/em>the<\/em> <\/em>advancement<\/em> <\/em>of<\/em> <\/em>sustainable<\/em> <\/em>banking<\/em> <\/em>by<\/em> <\/em>highlighting<\/em> <\/em>the<\/em> <\/em>significance<\/em> <\/em>of<\/em> <\/em>ESG<\/em> <\/em>considerations<\/em> <\/em>in<\/em> <\/em>shaping<\/em> <\/em>future financial and operational strategies that align with global sustainability objectives, fostering a more sustainable and resilient banking sector for the future.<\/em><\/p>\n
